One of my main passions is to train singers in liturgical chant. I established the School of Sacred Chant (Pühalaulu Kool) in Tallinn at the Congregation of Kaarli where I teach chanting in Estonian. Although I am mainly involved in Estonian chanting now, I am still very excited to teach theory and practice of my “first love” – Gregorian chant as well as chanting in English, Finish and Russian. I am ready to take challenges in other languages as well – however, I will need probably a little bit more time to prepare and the training must be conducted in English, Finish or Russian.

I am willing to work with everybody who wants to learn chanting. My students range from singers to ordinary members of different congregations who have discovered the beauty and deepness of monodic chanting of their vernacular scripture. I do sincerely believe that chanting is executable to every human and I would love to lead the way for those who are unfairly pushed away from the blessing of chanting. To work with students who have no previous musical experience or who have been convinced that they can’t sing I have devised a special methodology of chanting. Step by step everybody is engaged into joint chanting and sooner or later they discover and start to develop their talent of sacred chant.

Therefore, if you are interested in sacred chanting – either in Latin of vernacular, please write to me to eerik@ekn.ee and let us discuss how I can help you in your quest.
